Pinnacle Asset Management's James Hare Named No. 1 Bank Advisor in the U.S.

Two other Pinnacle associates make Top 100 list from Bank Investment Consultant

December 06, 2018

James HareJames Hare is the top bank advisor in the United States, having earned the No. 1 spot on Bank Investment Consultant magazine’s list of the Top 100 Bank Advisors. Hare has appeared on the list for several years, but this is the first time he has topped it.

Pinnacle associates Brock Kidd (No. 3) and Brick Sturgeon (No. 62) also earned spots on the magazine’s annual ranking.

“Top financial researchers and publications consistently rank members of our investment team among the best in the country,” Pinnacle Chairman Rob McCabe said. “They use objective statistics to determine who’s on top, but it all comes down to service and advice. Jamie and the rest of the team are skilled advisors with a deep well of experience and expertise. They are successful because they care about their clients’ financial objectives and help them achieve their goals.”

The magazine evaluated the honorees on several variables, including assets under management, trailing 12-month production, asset growth, amount of fee business, growth in production and production-per-assets. Re-qualification is required annually.*

Hare joined Pinnacle Asset Management in 2007 from Bank of America. He manages a portfolio of $320 million serving around 50 families in Tennessee. In his time at Pinnacle, he has earned numerous accolades and honors, including being named the Best-In-State Wealth Advisor** for Tennessee by Forbes earlier this year.

This is the second year in a row that a Pinnacle associate has been No. 1 on this list – Kidd held that spot last year. He is a co-founder of Pinnacle Asset Management in 2000, and all three of these Pinnacle associates are also financial consultants for Raymond James Financial Services.

Pinnacle Asset Management is Pinnacle’s unit for investment management and securities trading and execution. Bank Investment Consultant is the industry leader in readership and relevance among bank-based financial advisors.

*To compile the list, multiple variables were combined into one composite score. The six categories used are: (1) assets under management; (2) trailing-12 month production; (3) percentage increase in AUM from the previous year; (4) percentage increase in T-12 production; (5) amount of fee business; and (6) the ratio of production-per-AUM. (Note: 2015 AUM was defined as the amount an advisor had as of Aug. 31, 2016. Likewise, for T-12 production, the 12-month period ending Aug. 31, 2016 was used.) The nominees were ranked by each of the six categories and then six different scores were calculated based on where they ranked. Those six scores were used to compile the final list. The ranking may not be representative of any one client's experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of advisor's future performance. **The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years of experience, and the algorithm weighs factors like revenue trends, AUM, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of 21,138 advisors nominated by their firms, 2,213 received the award.
