Poll results: Readers on Nashville's top local bank

August 06, 2012

As the economy recovers, which local banks are primed to be major players — and therefore drivers of the local economic landscape — is a key question.

We recently took out our crystal ball to get started on answering it, highlighting five area banks that, based on their numbers and widespread industry perceptions, are worth watching. There was no particular ranking, but doing that is fun, and readers agreed.

A non-scientific online poll available in recent days on our website asked this question: Which of the following local banks is shaping up to be the greatest threat to the area's regional banking giants? As it turns out, the two largest banks, Pinnacle National Bank in Nashville and FirstBank in Lexington, came out on top.

Here's a rundown on the results, based on 1,263 responses:

  1. Pinnacle National Bank: 52 percent
  2. FirstBank: 36 percent
  3. CapStar Bank: 5 percent
  4. Avenue Bank: 4 percent
  5. Franklin Synergy Bank: 1 percent
