News Release:
Pinnacle Widens Lead as Largest and Fastest Growing Bank in Rutherford County
MURFREESBORO, Tenn., Oct. 20, 2006 - Pinnacle Financial Partners Inc. (Nasdaq/NGS: PNFP), with over a quarter of the market, has widened its lead as the top market share holder among Rutherford County's financial institutions, according to the latest data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
Pinnacle, which acquired Cavalry Bancorp based in Rutherford County in March 2006, now holds 25.07 percent market share, compared to the 17.05 percent share held by No. 2 (SunTrust) and the 11.28 percent held by No. 3 (Bank of America). Last year Cavalry was in the top position with a 24.19 percent share. The market share rankings are based on deposits held by the FDIC-insured institutions as of June 30 each year and were released by the FDIC late last week.
This year's data shows that only two of the five largest market share holders in Rutherford County gained share. As of June 30, 2006, the five largest market share holders were: Pinnacle (up .88%); SunTrust (down 3.04%); Bank of America (up .83%), First Tennessee (down .36%); and AmSouth (down 1.07%).
Pinnacle grew deposits by $101 million year-to-year, which is $11 million more than the second highest and $46 more than the third highest growth in deposits for the year. Pinnacle's deposits are now almost $200 million greater than those at SunTrust, second in market share.
"Being both the largest and fastest growing in market share is a significant achievement for any financial institution. This outstanding performance confirms the leading position Cavalry historically had in the community and the acceptance Pinnacle has received since the Cavalry merger was announced in October 2005," said Bill Jones, Pinnacle area executive for Rutherford County.
